After last years Ark To Arc, we said we weren’t going to do a ride in 2018, we were going to have a year off.
So, here we are, May just about to say goodbye for the year, and planning is well underway for our 2018 “we’re not going to do a ride” ride.
Yes, in just 47 days The Bournemouth Beano – around 140 miles over two days – will be taking place, with some old hands tagging along and some new Ark Rider faces joining the fun.
As someone who is supporting the ride this year on four wheels rather than two, I drove the route yesterday to make sure it’s a nice ride down lanes and quieter roads so the riders can cycle safely to Bournemouth. After cycling into Paris last year on a busy dual carriageway, it kind of makes sense to make the most of the scenery from here to there.
Our Basingstoke to Bournemouth ride includes a lovely cycle through the New Forest (including equine road obstructions) and the scenic cliff road between Christchurch and Bournemouth so it’s shaping up to be a great ride for all involved.
Anyway, I managed to make the necessary tweaks to the Strava route (including taking off 3 miles on the A303) and now our riders know what they have in store.
So, please support or intrepid cyclists who are raising money for Ark Cancer Centre Charity and although we aren’t pushing a major fundraising drive on the ride this year if you want to support our riders we won’t say no. You can find them our team on Just Giving.
